....With a 15" lower bout and hand-carved solid wood construction, the I-35 is a unique modern tribute to the heritage of the doubl cutaway semi-hollow electric guitar. The I-35's design pairs a mahogany back and sides with a maple center center block for a tonal response that is complex and quick, with an "airy" character.

The I-35's top carve includes high arches and ample re-curve, allowing the best qualities of the solid wood to shine though in its amplified tone. An instrument that is at home in almost any genre, the Collings I-35 has quickly become one of our most popular electric models.

..Die Decke der I35 ist somit aus massivem Ahorn geschnitzt. Gegenüber der I35 LC - also dem Schwestermodell mit laminierter Decke - ist der Ton etwas "dicker", er hat mehr Holz. Ich möchte dies in keinem Fall in der Katergorie "besser oder schlechter" verstanden wissen. Man muß die beiden Modelle unbedingt im Vergleich spielen - erst dann wird die individuelle Ausprägung deutlich. Um trotzdem einen Anhaltspunkt zu geben: Je Cleaner die Tonvorliebe ist, desto eher würde ich in Richunng "massive Decke" empfehlen, je mehr "dirtyness" im Ton gewünscht ist - dann die LC
